What we love

  • 12,000 Pa suction — highest in class
  • Dual rotating mops lift 12mm for carpet transitions
  • Massive 4L clean + 4L dirty water tanks for long sessions
  • Excellent pet hair pickup with tangle-free brush
  • Longer 210-minute runtime

What could be better

  • No local/Home Assistant control
  • Dreamehome app is less polished than Roborock
  • Base station is bulky
Our verdict9.2

The Dreame X40 Ultra takes the mopping crown with its dual rotating pads and massive water tanks, and its 12,000 Pa suction beats even the S8 MaxV Ultra on raw power. If mopping is your priority and you have mostly hard floors, this is your robot. The lack of Home Assistant support is the only real knock.

Cleaning Performance

At 12,000 Pa, the X40 Ultra is the strongest consumer robot vacuum we've tested. It extracted embedded pet hair from carpet with ease, and on hardwood it left not a single trace of debris. The anti-tangle brush handled long human hair without any wrapping.

Mopping Performance

Dual rotating mops that spin at high RPM are the X40 Ultra's killer feature. They apply downward pressure while rotating, scrubbing hard floors more aggressively than any single-pad design. The 12mm lift clears most carpet thresholds automatically.

Base Station & Autonomy

The 4L + 4L tank design is overkill for most homes but perfect for large open-plan layouts. You genuinely don't need to refill or empty for a week of daily cleaning. The hot-air drying cycle runs at 50°C for 2 hours.

App & Smart Home

The Dreamehome app has improved significantly but still trails Roborock. Map editing, zone setup, and scheduling work well, but the UI feels less refined. No Home Assistant integration is a notable gap for smart home enthusiasts.
