01 · Methodology
Our testing process
Every robot is purchased at retail price and tested in real homes over a minimum of two weeks. Our protocol covers:
- Debris pickup across 6 surface types (hardwood, tile, low/medium/high pile, transitions)
- Pet hair pickup with simulated and real pet hair loads
- Mopping effectiveness on dried stains, fresh spills, and maintenance cleaning
- Navigation mapping accuracy across multiple room layouts
- Obstacle avoidance in real conditions (cables, shoes, pet toys, pet waste)
- Base station performance and reliability over 14+ days
- App usability and smart home integration testing
- Noise level measurement at 1 meter distance
02 · Scoring
Our scoring system
We score each robot across nine dimensions on a 0–10 scale. The overall score is a weighted average, with suction, navigation, and value given the highest weights.

VacuumVerdict is a free, independent comparison and information site. We may also review products we have no commercial relationship with.
Compensation doesn't buy a good review.We give critical reviews to products whose makers compensate us, and positive reviews to those who don't — based solely on our testing results. Our model depends on reader trust: if we recommend bad products, we lose our audience.
We never accept payment for reviews, sponsored content, or “featured” placements. While advertising fees and our methodology can influence where products appear in our rankings and comparison tables, the scores themselves reflect our independent testing.
